Frequently Asked Questions

How is my child kept safe?

Our team is trained to keep everyone safe. All summer team members, regular staff and volunteers are required to produce a clear criminal record check and to take the In Safe Hands training. Summer team members also have week long training before summer camp starts to make sure they are well equipped and ready to keep campers safe and help them have fun! Read more in depth information about safety at camp on this page from our parent company, One Hope Canada.

Is there Financial Assistance Available?

Yes. We have campership funding available for those unable to cover the full cost of a camp week.

Can we request for a friend to be in the same cabin?

During the registration process you will be able to fill out a form called "requests and additional information". This is where you can list the first and last name of a friend you would like your camper to be placed with. We do our very best to accommodate all of these requests. Keeping the requests to 1 or 2 friends helps us manage the "web" of requests we receive so that we can accommodate as many of these as possible.

Please note: we do not place siblings together unless requested, and sometimes the age gap is too great to make a friend request work.

Are my kids going to learn about God?

We believe that everyone needs to hear about the love God has for them and how He sent His son Jesus to die on the cross for our sins. We have two chapel sessions a day where speakers teach about God’s love, as well as daily devotions that happen in cabins led by the cabin leaders.

We also strongly believe that everyone has a personal choice when it comes to faith and religion. We teach our staff to never force any camper to adhere to our beliefs but to create a constructive dialogue. We love to be asked questions and don’t force answers on anyone.

What should my child bring to camp?

It is recommended to label all your child's belongings to ensure nothing is lost.

  • clothes for all weather conditions
  • sleeping bag
  • pillow
  • single bed fitted sheet (not necessary but is really nice)
  • Jacket/Rain Gear and any necessary layers
  • Extra Footwear (Sandals or Gumboots depending on the weather)
  • Bug spray
  • Sunscreen and Hat
  • Swimsuit and Beach Towel
  • Water bottle
  • Medication(s) medication administration schedule
  • Bible (we can provide one if you’d like), Notebook and Pen

If my child is not feeling well, will I get a refund if they are sent or stay home?

If your child only gets to attend 2 or less days of camp, because of them not feeling well, we will offer a 50% refund. If your child attends 3 or more days of camp and then gets sent home because they are not feeling well, there will be no refund. In consideration for the camp staff and other campers, if your child feels sick, please keep them home.

What is our cancellation policy?

Camp fee (less the $100 deposit) is refundable only if cancellation is received 14 days prior to the first day of camp. The $100 deposit is per camp session, per camper, and is non-refundable and non-transferable. No refund will be given if cancellation occurs less than 2 weeks prior to your camp week, except for unforeseen medical reasons. No refund will be given for a dismissal due to home-sickness, disciplinary action, late arrival or early departure.

Can I change the session my camper is signed up for?

Due to the high number of campers that register each year we do not change camper sessions. You can choose to cancel a camp registration and make a new registration for a different session. Keep in mind our cancellation policy noted in the previous question.

My child has dietary restrictions, how does Camp accommodate that?

Our Kitchen Team is always happy to help accommodate any dietary needs your child has. Please just fill out the form online as you register your child for a week at camp. Please be as specific as needed. Our kitchen is well versed in cooking for many different restrictions. If you have questions let us know.

How does the camp accommodate campers and guests?

We strive to serve and host guests from many abilities and walks of life. Our programs, capacity, staffing and facilities have limitations that will prevent some individuals from engaging in certain programs. We recognize some situations are unique and would love to discuss what options there are to have you or your camper at camp.

At certain levels we have been able to accommodate areas such as...

  • Dietary

  • Medical and medications

  • Physical abilities

  • Developmental abilities

  • Cabin Assignment

  • Emotional needs

If you have more questions or don't see your needs addressed in the registration process feel free to contact our office.

What are the camper accommodations like?

Our campers stay in stand-alone cabins that are within walking distance of full bathroom facilities. Cabins hold 10 campers and 2 leaders. Cabins have bottom and top bunks.

Cabins out at WilderNess also have bunk beds with 10 campers and 2 leaders. However, at WilderNess they have tent tops and wall and floors of wood. On a outtrip campers stay in tents!

What if my child needs medications every day?

We will have a Health Attendant every week who will be in charge of medications and first aid. On the first day of camp please bring enough medication for your child's entire week of camp, the Health Attendant will organize and distribute your child’s medication to them while at camp throughout the week when needed.

Medical Administration Schedule

How does check in work?

Check in is what we call the intake process for our camps.

Check in will begin at 4:00 pm for Main Camp and 4:30 at WilderNess on the first day of each camp. The line at main camp moves quickly and the store is open while you wait!

When you get to the front of the line, your camper will be asked their name and we will ensure all the registration paperwork is complete. Then we will let you know which cabin they are assigned to. You will have a chance to speak to the Health Attendant if you have any medication to drop off or the Food Services Manager if you wish to discuss your camper’s dietary needs in greater detail than already submitted in the medical form. You will also meet the Cabin leaders that will be spending the week with your camper and help them get settled in their cabin. You will be asked by the Cabin Leader to provide the name of the person who will be picking your camper up at the end of the camp.

This process moves quite fast and we appreciate your patience!

How does checking work for Day Camps?

Whether you are riding the bus or arriving at camp, every morning we will greet you and ask for the name of the person who will be picking the campers up. The first morning of the camp session we will also be checking for any outstanding registration paperwork.

What are day camps?

Each camper has the option to be picked up by a bus at the specified locations or provide their own transportation to camp.

Food Service for Day campers: we will provide "Brack" (Breakfast/snack) for campers when they arrive, lunch and afternoon tuck time.

Campers will be in groups of 10 (Cabin group), with two Camp leaders. This group will be together all throughout the day and week.
