Interim Food Service Manager

Ness Lake Bible Camp is currently seeking a servant leader to join our team as Interim Food Services Manager.  This is a maternity leave coverage opportunity effective from April 1, 2025 to May 1, 2026.

Ness Lake Bible Camp is a ministry of One Hope Canada (formerly Canadian Sunday School Mission/CSSM Ministries) that exists to present the Gospel particularly to those with the least opportunity to hear of Christ, especially to children and youth, and we disciple believers for living and serving through His church. Ness Lake Bible Camp was established in 1953 and ministers to approximately 2500 children, youth and families each year. ​

Spring Crew Coordinator

The Spring Crew Coordinator starts 1 week early (April 14th), and oversees the Spring Crew in their day to day tasks. Responsibilities include but are not limited to being a liaison with guest groups, scheduling Spring Crew to cover guest group and camp’s needs, coordinating Spring Crew social events, leading daily meetings and general supervision. Spring Crew Lead works to the Guest Services Manager and Operations Director.

Spring Crew

Spring Crew serve rental groups and assist with the preparation of the property for our summer programs. They will work under the supervision of the Spring Crew Lead. If you are interested, please indicate Spring Crew on your application and more information will be provided. Number of positions pending guest group schedule. Reports to the Spring Crew Coordinator.

Program Coordinator

The Program Coordinators work in conjunction with and under the direction of the Program Director, Isaac Kwitkoski. One Program Coordinator will manage the A-team and personnel  scheduling while the other Program Coordinator focuses on the preparation and running of games and activities. NLBC will pay for the applicants to obtain their Pleasure Craft Operators Card.

Summer Team Coordinator

STCs work as a team to provide ongoing supervision, training, and encouragement for 48 Cabin Leaders. Duties include: organizing small groups, cabin leader assignments, facilitating daily and weekly Bible studies, discipline, working with higher need campers and can include some interaction with parents.  Preferably 21 years or older and have attended a post secondary institution. Works under the Recruitment and Discipleship Manager, Stephen Bonnett.

Head LIT Coordinator

The Head LIT Coordinator will work closely with the Recruitment and Discipleship Manager (Stephen Bonnett) to organize the LIT program.  The LIT program operates as a ‘camp within a camp’.  Each session will have up to 20 (10 male/10 female) participants. The Head LIT Coordinator is perhaps the most challenging and rewarding position at NLBC! If you have a heart for discipleship and you love hard work, this could be the best job you ever have!

LIT Coordinator

LIT Coordinators work under the direction of the Head LIT Coordinator to provide an exceptional work and discipleship program for teenage participants.  LIT Coordinators function as ‘Cabin Leaders’ to LITs. This is a demanding but rewarding job.

Kitchen Team Lead

To assist the Food Services Manager, in all areas of food preparation and supervision of kitchen staff. Previous cooking experience is required.  FoodSafe training may be provided, however preference may be given to those who already have it. This experience will benefit you greatly! You’ll learn and use many skills that will help you in future endeavors.

Worship Coordinator

The Worship Coordinator organizes chapels (worship and music teams).  Duties include communicating with weekly guest speakers and assisting with program as required. This position will be paired with another non-cabin leading position as fits best. (eg Lifeguard, Program Specialist, Audio Visual Tech, etc.) Reports to the Program Director.

Audio Visual Tech

The AV Tech will be responsible for taking digital pictures and video footage at NLBC and WilderNess and to create weekly videos for campers with the assistance of the AV Tech Assistant. Experience with video editing software and digital photography is essential.  Send us a sample of your work! Reports to the Program Director.

Program Specialist

The Program Specialists are responsible for organizing the water ski/wakeboard, fishing, and rock climbing programs. They also work with the office team to help schedule campers into their activities. NLBC will pay for the applicants to obtain their Pleasure Craft Operators Card. Completion of the Pleasure Craft Operators License prior to camp start is required.  Program Specialists must have 5 years driving experience and be at least 21 years old.

Waterfront Coordinator

The Waterfront Coordinator is responsible for providing a safe and fun program in and on the water at NLBC.  This position reports to the Operations Director and must be 19+ years old on or before May 1, 2025. It is preferred to have NLS  certification valid to September 1, 2025. Copy of certification required.

Program Leader

The program leader works under the direction of the Program Director. They lead the junior program leader and their daily scheduling; they also assist the program coordinator in the setting up/facilitating of games and other activities. This position delegates, assists with, and communicates with other departments about jobs around camp.

Cabin Leader

Cabin Leaders are responsible for leading a cabin of 10 campers each week, with the assistance of a Jr Cabin Leader. Cabin Leaders are also expected to instruct/assist in activities, and to assist with the program as directed.  Duties may include 1 to 2 weeks at WilderNess on Little Ness Lake.  Must be at least 18 years of age. CLs report to the Summer Team Coordinators.

Day Camp Leader

The Day Camp Leader will be responsible for cabin leading and directing up to 24 day campers with the help of a Cabin Leader and two Jr Cabin Leaders. Duties also include check in and out everyday at the drop off location, and supervising campers on the bus. The Day Camp Leader is expected to instruct/assist in activities, and to assist with the program as directed. Must be at least 18 years of age. Preference will be given to applicants who have served on Summer Team previously.  Reports to Program Director.

Lifeguard

Lifeguards assist the Waterfront  Coordinator at NLBC.  Lifeguards must be 16 on or before May 1, 2024, and must have current  NLS and Standard First Aid certification valid to September 1, 2025. Copy of certification required.

Office Assistant

The Office Assistant answers the phone, takes messages, edits and emails support letters, and assists and reports to the Office Manager, Brandie Fusaji.

Store/T-Shirts Coordinator

Running  the camp store (Trading Post) including: sales, inventory control, tuck and producing camper t-shirts weekly. There is great potential for ministry to other volunteers with this position.  Reports to the Guest Services Manager, Johanna Groenenberg.

Maintenance Assistant

(Support Team depending on skill/age) Help with ongoing maintenance needs at camp.  The Maintenance Assistants report to the Facilities Manager, Joseph Klassen.

Groundskeeper

(Support Team depending on skill/age) The Groundskeeper takes care of lawns, landscaping, flower beds, and other outdoor areas of camp. They keep the grounds tidy and beautiful under the supervision of the Facilities Manager. Is also expected to help the Maintenance Team when needed. Experience with landscaping and basic tools is preferred. 

Junior Team

Jr Cabin Leader

Jr Cabin Leaders work directly with campers under the supervision of Summer Team Coordinators and a Cabin Leader.  Jr Cabin Leaders are also involved in activities instruction, Bible Study, and all aspects of camp life. Duties may include 1 to 2 weeks in the WilderNess Program at Little Ness Lake. Ages 16 and up. Preference will be given to those who have completed the LIT program at NLBC.

Kitchen Assistant

Kitchen Assistants help with food preparation and service.  Must be able to follow directions, work quickly and accurately, and have good physical stamina.  Previous experience is an asset but not required.

Assistant Lifeguard

Assistant Lifeguards assist the Waterfront Coordinator at NLBC.  This person must be 16+ on or before May  1, 2024, and have current Bronze Cross or NLS certification valid to September 1, 2024. This is a great way to serve at camp and gain experience.  A copy of certification is required.

Jr Program Leaders

The Junior Program Leaders will be working with the Program Leader completing tasks, setup, and helping out with skills. When not needed by Program they may be assigned to other odd jobs around camp including WilderNess. They are a vital part of supporting the Cabin Leading Team by doing a WIDE variety of tasks as they arise.

WilderNess Assistant Director

(Support Team) Will work together to assist the WilderNess Director, with their duties: implementing the satellite program on Little Ness Lake for up to 40 campers per session; and assisting in training, directing, and encouraging the WilderNess Team. Love for the outdoors is a must.

WilderNess Lifeguard

(Leading Team) The WilderNess Lifeguard is responsible for providing a safe and fun program in and on the water at WilderNess.  This position reports to the Waterfront Director.  This person must be 19+ on or before May 1, 2025, and must have NLS certification valid to September 1, 2025.  WilderNess Lifeguard may double as a Cabin Leader.  A copy of NLS certification is required.

WilderNess Head Cook 

(Support Team) Responsible for menu planning, purchasing, inventory control, and food preparation for up to 55 people per session for 7 summer sessions as well as spring guest groups. Volunteers and campers will also be involved in meal preparation and cleanup. Must love the outdoors. FoodSafe training will be provided if needed.
